Affectionately known as "The Kid", Steve Cauthen became the youngest jockey ever to win the Triple Crown. In 1978 Cauthen piloted the great Affirmed to three dramatic victories over arch-rival Alydar and later was Named Sport Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year for his efforts. In only his second year of riding, the Kentucky-born athlete became the first jockey to win $6 million in a single season. Cauthen went on to enjoy an international racing career, winning nearly 2800 races and receiving numerous jockey champion accolades in America and Great Britain.

"It's been said racing encompasses hours of agony and moments of glory.
But moments like the 1978 Triple Crown inspire the pursuit of greatness."

~ Steve Cauthen
